Here are 3 incredibly easy ways to get more comments on your blog:
1. Ask and you shall receive.
If you don’t ask, you don’t get. ~Mahatma Ghandi.
At the end of your post, invite your readers to comment on it, either to share their tips, answer a question, or ask you a question about the contents of the blog post. Many people need a nudge or call to action to comment. See that Your turn! heading at the end of every post? That’s intended as a reminder for readers to take action.
2. Give your commentator something in exchange.
If you are not getting comments at all, try installing CommentLuv, a plugin that adds a link to the most recent blog post of the commentator next to their comment. Automatically, isn’t that great?
Many people these days are actually checking out to see if a blog is CommentLuv-enabled before leaving a comment. Go with the free plugin or the premium (paid) plugin, the choice is yours. I installed the paid plugin – you can try it out by leaving a comment on any of my blog posts and see how it adds your link. See what I’m doing here? Applying tip #1 and asking you to comment ;)
If you are getting comments already, encourage the commentators to come back and comment even more by visiting their blog and commenting, thanking them on Twitter, or sending them a Thank you email. The CommentLuv premium plugin allows you to do that. And yes, there is a version of it for Blogger too, not just WordPress. Sweet, isn’t it?
3. Join Blog Commenting Tribes
Join Facebook groups or pages that encourage blog commenting. If you do not know of one, check out my Facebook page, I run a Blog Commenting Weekend every week. It’s a great way to meet new bloggers and get your blogs read and commented on.

I like the idea of CommentLuv. I don’t use either WordPress or Blogger as my blog is all linked in to my main website which is hosted by Joomla, using EasyBlog. Do you know if it will work on this? Thanks as always for your useful tips.
You’re more than welcome, Phoebe!
There is no direct way of installing CommentLuv on Joomla blogs, however I found an article that explains how to install the CommentLuv plugin it if you first install IntenseDebate.
Please check out, hope it helps! http://www.onlinemediadesigns.com/blog/item/328-how-to-add-commentluv-to-any-website-or-blog.html

I have been implementing these suggestions and it really does make a difference. The more you connect with others, they more likely they are to comment and become a loyal follower. I find that the posts where I share openly and from the heart seem to get a greater response as people can relate. I love your blog and all the tips you share. It has helped me a lot in improving my blog.

Sue, I just read an article recently where it said that if your blog is not really showing you, it is not going to be sustainable to write consistently and easily. I think that’s so right on the money.
Thank you so much for your continuous support as a fan of this blog and my Facebook page, I really appreciate it!

I think if you share the comment love and comment with engaging comments on other blogs, they will be more inclined to visit your blog and leave a comment.
If you share some personal details in a blog post (all always appropriate though or easy to do) readers will empathise and will be more inclined to comment :)
Love the Comment Luv plug in btw
