How to add tweetable bits to your blog post

Did you know you can include tweetable bits in a blog post?

What are tweetable bits? Pieces of text that you can have in your blog as pre-baked tweets and which people can tweet directly by clicking on a link.

A good example are quotes that are shared so often on Twitter, particularly because they are short (under the 140-character limit) and, well, almost everybody loves a good quote :)

Say for example that I want to make a tweetable bit from this quote:

Let us be grateful to people who make us happy; they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom.~Marcel Proust

All you need to do to create a tweetable quote is to copy and paste the following code in your Text editor in WordPress (of course, you can replace the quote with the one that you want, and make sure that you do it in both places):

<p>Let us be grateful to people who make us happy; they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom.~Marcel Proust <a href=”http://twitter.com/home/?status=Let us be grateful to people who make us happy; they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom.~Marcel Proust”>[Tweet this!]</a></p>

Here’s what you get:

Let us be grateful to people who make us happy; they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom.~Marcel Proust [Tweet this!]

You can also check out Conquering I cannot blog: Series wrap-up and WordPress plugins: Series wrap-up to see more complicated examples, when the tweetable bits contain links.

Your turn!

Try it when you get a chance and let me know how it worked! If you have any questions, please post them in a comment!

  1. I’m a total twit when it comes to twitter :( Still haven’t gotten used to reading: “RT Success @somename getting together #something @someoneelse MO” Sometimes I’m just like huh? Anyhow, I will definitely keep this tip in mind thanks so much for the shared knowledge. I really need to do a little more practicing with my lil twitter there!

    • No worries, Glenda. I always say find a few platforms that work for you and be there. You don’t need to be everywhere.

If you are not very active on Twitter however, you can at least link your Facebook posts to Twitter so that you are getting some tweets for free.

Are you doing this already? It’s a great way to have some activity on Twitter until you become more active later on.
